Craig McTavish obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology from the University of British Columbia in 1993. Craig was awarded his Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria in 1997. After articling with a small firm on Vancouver Island, Craig was called to the bar in 1998.
Craig has practiced in the field of personal injury since his call to the bar. Since joining David Doig & Associates in 2006, he has practiced almost exclusively in that field. Craig handles a wide variety of personal injury claims ranging from soft tissue injuries, up to and including catastrophic brain injuries, both as lead counsel and as part of the team at the firm.
Craig has been involved in claims resulting from multiple vehicle collisions, medical malpractice, product liability, occupier's liability, commercial host liability and highway design and maintenance. He has dealt with claims arising from motor vehicle collisions, train collisions, drowning, electrocutions, burns and injuries arising from medical malpractice.
Craig has appeared at the Provincial Court, as well as in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and Court of Appeal. He has also appeared before a variety of tribunals, including the Worker's Compensation Appeal Tribunal and in arbitrations arising from the Insurance (Vehicle) Act. Craig has extensive knowledge and experience in dealing with insurance issues arising from motor vehicle claims, including Underinsured and Uninsured Motorist claims, along with claims involving out of Province and excess insurers.
Craig lives on the North Shore and in his free time he enjoys mountain biking, skiing and playing hockey(badly), along with many other outdoor and recreational pursuits.
